Family + Associates Urged Whitney Houston to Go Into Rehab
We’re sad to report this the same day as Whitney Houston‘s funeral. During the last weeks leading up to her untimely death, associates of the late pop icon urged her to go into rehab. Radar Online is reporting that Houston fell off the wagon and “was as bad as she ever was.” Even her daughter, Bobbi Kristina, was encouraging her mother to seek treatment.
“Bobbi Kristina, Clive Davis and members of Whitney’s closest advisers were urging her to go back to rehab because people close to her saw her downward spiral into drugs and alcohol,” a source reportedly told Radar Online. “It was extremely hard for Clive in particular to see Whitney under the influence again. He was absolutely powerless to stop her. Clive and Whitney had a very close relationship, but her addiction to drugs and alcohol did a lot of damage to that.”
Clive Davis, who discovered and mentored Whitney throughout her career, was willing to pay for her to get detoxed at a drug rehab facility. She reportedly declined the offer. “She shot him down,” said the source. “The sad fact is that unless the addict wants to get help, there is nothing anyone can do to force someone to go to rehab.”
As we previously reported, Houston was allegedly drinking heavily and made repeat visits to her doctors days before her death. According to Star magazine, Houston visited doctors on three separate occasions. She also visited a throat doctor as witnessed by ‘X Factor‘ season one winner Melanie Amaro.
A “Homegoing” service for Houston was held on Saturday in her hometown of Newark, N.J. The pop icon will be privately laid to rest on Sunday (Feb. 19) at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, N.J., next to her late father, John Russell Houston, who died in 2003.
May Whitney Houston rest eternally in peace.
