Friends of Louisiana State Exhibit Museum in Shreveport will be holding their biennial fundraiser Glitz & Grits tomorrow at 7:00 pm at the Museum.  This year's theme is "Louisiana Saturday Night."

Not only will attendees help support the wide array of exhibits at the museum, along with the maintenance of the building and staff salaries, but they'll be treated to visits from Louisiana visual artist, Jim Tweedy and Raku Potter, Bruce Odell.

Tweedy, the son of a Disney animator, began his artistic journey as a commercial illustrator but quickly grew into one of Louisiana’s most well-known artists when he created a spoof on Rodrique’s Blue Dog with his own Red Cat – Charlie.

Bruce Odell is a world champion potter and captivates guests with his wheel throwing and raku firing demonstration taking place on the lawn of the museum.  During the event, a live auction will feature a painting by Jim Tweedy and a large piece of pottery by Bruce Odell.  Then at the end of the evening, guests will leave with a gift of an original work of pottery by Odell.

Lafayette’s Bayou Boys will bring the sounds of Louisiana to life for some toe-tapping good times.  Kicking off the evening of music will be a special performance by the Honorable Buddy Caldwell as “Elvis.”  For those who prefer a different style of music, DJ Marle Mar will be spinning hits in the garden.

Doors will open at 6:45 p.m. and the event will run until approximately 11:00 p.m.  Valet parking will be available.  Tickets are $150 and can be purchased by calling (318) 632-2020.
