I absolutely love live theatre! And I have found some excellent entertainment from our local theatre troupes.

The latest show to hit the stage is 13 from the Academy of Children's Theatre.

It is a wonderful story filled with great music. A fun time for the entire family!

Here is what the Shreveport Times has to say about ACT's 13:

Through many trials and tribulations, Evan Goldman learns the lessons of true friendship in the musical "13," which will be performed by the Academy of Children's Theatre beginning Friday.

Evan is a 12-year-old who has been forced to move from New York City to Indiana when his parents get a divorce and the move interferes with his upcoming bar mitzvah.

The production is co-directed by Cynthia Hawkins-Whitaker and Lauren Ross. Daniel Ley is musical director and Jan Reedy is vocal director.

The musical features a cast of 30 junior high school performers, including John Peyton Pou as Evan, Elizabeth Ross as Patrice, Carter Whitaker as Archie, Jacob Cowley as Brett, Kyrah Moseley as Lucy and Caroline Laborde as Kendra.

The production, from the book by Dan Elish and Robert Horn and music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, is a high-energy musical about discovering that cool is where you find it and sometimes where you least expect it.
