Bossier City native Jared Leto, recently awarded a Golden Globe award for best supporting actor for his role as a transgender HIV patient in the critically acclaimed 'Dallas Buyer's Club', has been nominated for an Academy Award in the same category and is considered to be an odds on favorite. The film also stars Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner.

Leto, previously best known for his roles in the TV series, 'My So Called Life', and movies including 'Fight Club' and 'Panic Room', was born in Bossier City in 1971. His parents divorced when he was a child and, as he describes it, he and and his Mother 'moved around frequently'.
