The Shreveport Dog Park, beset by delays since 2013, is now scheduled to open in April of 2017, that according to SPAR Director Shelly Ragle.

It was also announced that KAN Contracting has been selected to complete the project. The company was chosen from a list of six contractors who submitted bids before last Thursday's deadline. The contracting process will take around 30 days, at which point the city will give approval to begin construction.

Ragle said construction should start around the first of November with the KAN company finishing their part of the job by the end of March.

$69,000 - planning, design and legal fees - has already been spent on the park.The remaining cost of $280,000 will be paid for by the Red River Waterway Commission.
