The Shreveport Police Department's Vice Unit is investigating a network of illegal fights taking place throughout various Shreveport neighborhoods, and later appearing online.

The investigation began in early March, after information from a concerned citizen suggested large groups of people had been gathering at specific locations with the purpose of fist-fighting. A large number of these brawls surfaced on various social media sites.

Detectives have learned that the majority of the participants in these brawls were females, some as young as 15. Dozens of others joined in as spectators, often filming and encouraging the behavior.

Investigators also found out the fights were allegedly motivated by numerous igniters, from romantic involvement to verbal disputes. Police say 39-year-old Shawn Ford was charged with inciting a riot and disturbing the peace by fighting. And 17-year-old Taquila Ford, 25-year-old Shanice Thomas, 17-year-old ShaCrystal Borrough and a 16-year-old (no mug shot available because of age) were all charged with disturbing the peace by fighting.

The adults were all booked into the Shreveport City Jail. The junvenile was booked into the Caddo Juvenile Detention Center.

Detectives also have arrest warrants for at least one other juvenile, along with 24-year-old Gekera Bloomer.
