Power is still a problem across parts of Shreveport today. Power was out at Byrd High School for part of the morning, but classes were not dismissed and crews restored the power within a couple of hours. But several thousand in Shreveport are still in the dark.

A Swepco spokesman says at least 3,100 customers are still in the dark in the city. The area affected is around the LSU Medical Center. Emergency crews tell KEEL news the problem now is that many water logged trees are toppling over. A tree fell across Line Avenue early this morning, blocking traffic near Erie Street.
