A Shreveport man faces up to life in prison after being convicted in Caddo District Court of several charges.

According to a news release from the Caddo Parish District Attorney's Office, it took the jury a little over an hour to find 33-year-old Ronnie Young, Jr., guilty of domestic abuse battery with strangulation, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and attempted possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Charges against Young stemmed from a July 2014 incident where he attacked his former fiancee, who fled to a nearby house for help. The homeowners called police for the victim.

Young, armed with two handguns, chased the woman into the house. He beat the victim and told the homeowners if he saw himself on the news, he would come back and kill them. They ended up moving after the incident, after living in the home for more than 25 years.

Young was arrested on a warrant in March 2015. He'll be back in court March 8 to receive a sentencing date. He faces up to six years in prison and a $1,000 fine on the unauthorized entry conviction, up to three years on the domestic abuse battery charge, and an additional 7 1/2 years in prison plus a fine up to $2,000.

Prosecutors are planning to request that Young be sentenced as a third-conviction felony offender with two prior drug offenses and the domestic abuse battery with strangulation. Under Louisiana's habitual offender statute, he can then be sentenced to life without the possibility of parole or reduction in sentence.
