Elizabeth Taylor, who died Wednesday in Los Angeles of congestive heart failure, was one of Hollywood's most famous and popular stars, with roles in such classic movies as 'Giant,' 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' and 'A Place in the Sun.'
Though health problems plagued her entire career, Taylor proved to be one of Hollywood's biggest survival stories, earning two Best Actress Oscars and a slew of other awards and recognition from her peers.
Elizabeth Taylor, a voluptuous violet-eyed actress who lived a life of luster and anguish and spent more than six decades as one of the world's most visible women for her two Academy Awards, eight marriages, ravaging illnesses and work in AIDS philanthropy, died Wednesday at age 79.
