Two of Bossier City's three swimming pools are now open for the summer.

Mike Wood Memorial Park Pool, located at 2200 Dennis Street in the Shady Grove subdivision, is open Monday through Friday from noon until 6:45PM and Saturday from noon until 5PM. It's closed Sundays.

The Fort Smith Neighborhood Playfield Pool at 701 Coleman Street is open Monday through Friday from noon until 4:45PM and Saturday from noon until 5PM. It's also closed Sundays.

City spokesman Mark Natale tells 710 KEEL the Shed Road Community Playfield Pool at 4208 Shed Road is the only one that remains closed.

"The city is building a whole new pool house at that location," Natale said. "Last year the city found that particular pool house was not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. So the city looked at that, and instead of doing a minimal repair job to bring it in compliance, given the condition of the building -- it's old, it had some termite damage -- the decision was made just to raze it and then build a new one."

Natale said the city has been working on that for the past few months, but the rainy weather so far this year has delayed the project. He's hoping Shed Road will open in mid- to late-June.

This will, of course, alter swimming lessons normally held at the Shed Road pool. Those will be done at Fort Smith until Shed Road is ready to open. The fee for each session is $40, and lessons begin June 1. Call the Bossier Parks and Recreation office at 318-741-8450 if you have any questions about those lessons.

Once Shed Road opens, the hours will be Monday through Friday from noon until 5:45PM, Saturday from noon until 5PM, and closed Sundays.

Daily swim fees are $2 for adults and $1 for children 17 and under. Individual season passes are $35 per person, and season passes for up to a family of 4 are $75.
