The Bossier City man accused of killing a woman in the parking lot of Willis Knighton in Bossier is now free on bond.

23-year-old Ramsey Akes was released Tuesday after posting a fee of $5,535 on the $275,000 bond. Akes was arrested on October 28 in connection with the shooting death of 65-year-old Cynthia Walker. He's charged with first degree murder. Police believe this shooting was the result of a road rage incident.

Police say Walker followed Akes to the hospital parking lot after he allegedly bumped into her car. Walker pulled her SUV in front of Akes car partially blocking him in a parking spot.

Walker got out of her car holding some sort of club. That's when Akes allegedly shot Walker at least seven times. Akes called 911 to report the shooting and he waited for officers to arrive. He was arrested on the scene.

A Bossier officer was working security at the hospital and another officer who was in the area tried to save Walker, but she later died at Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport.

A hearing is set for December 15 in Bossier District Court where the defense team is asking for the bond to be reduced. The motion says Akes is not a flight risk and family members will make sure he shows up in court.

The judge has also set a separate court date of Dec. 9 for a preliminary examination.
