Hurricane Laura is slowly making its way to North Louisiana. Earlier this morning, the National Weather service downgraded Shreveport-Bossier's Hurricane Warning to a Tropical Storm Warning. While that is good news, the storm is still expected to cause flash flooding, wind damage and possibly create tornadoes.

With that said, Caddo Parish has decided to suspend its sandbag program for the day. Since Tuesday, Caddo has been giving residents up to 25 free sandbags to protect their property. However, as Laura moves into the area, the Parish has decided to suspend the program for the safety of residents and employees.

"Due to the increased weather conditions in the area, the sandbag operations at the Parish’s fleet services department (1701 Monty Street) will not be open today for citizens" read a release from Communications Manager Krystle Beauchamp.

The National Weather Service says that our area could experience Tropical Storm conditions for the next 36 hours. Weather experts and public officials are urging residents to stay off the roads and to stay safe.
