This is good news. Organizers of the Delcambre Shrimp Festival have announced that this year's festival is indeed on.

According to a post on the festival's Facebook page, the event will be held August 18-22, 2021 at the Delcambre Shrimp Festival Grounds.

The announcement came shortly after Governor John Bel Edwards announced the state would be moving to a modified Phase 3, which allows for larger gatherings, as well as some lightening of restrictions to indoor dining, bars and other activities.

Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser was very happy about the news.

Of course, last year's Shrimp Festival was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, so the last time we got to enjoy the festivities there was back in 2019.

The Delcambre Shrimp Festival always features an array of live entertainment, a street fair, shrimp cook-off, fireman water fights, blessing of the fleet, and much more.

In years past, the Shrimp Festival has hosted some stellar national acts including Clay Walker, John Anderson, Tracy Lawrence, Aaron Tippin, Mark Chesnutt, Craig Morgan, and many more.

So that's the big question -- "who will be playing this year's festival?" Hopefully, we'll have that answer for you soon.
