With fall officially right around the corner, there's no shortage of things do to this weekend.

    Super Safety Saturday

    This is an annual event sponsored by the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier. It features numerous stations where kids can learn about safety. A popular feature is the Touch-a-Truck area, where you can see the inner workings of a fire truck, police car or helicopter. It's going on from 9 a.m. until noon at Sheriff's Safety Town. There's no cost for admission.

    Chimpanzee Discovery Day

    This is Chimp Haven's monthly event, where you get a chance to see the chimpazees that roam the sanctuary. Be sure to bring your cameras! It runs from 9 a.m. until noon. Admission for adults (13 years and older) is $10, children 6-12 are $5, and children 5 and under get in free.

    Shreveport Mini Maker Faire

    This is a first for Shreveport, and for Centenary College. It's designed to allow local artists, educators, craftspeople and engineers to offer an engaging, hands-on opportunity for families to come out and see what they do. There's no cost for admission and the faire runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Centenary's Fitness Center.

    Shop Til You Drop

    This event features over 100 booths for your shopping pleasure. The kids can also go out see Mickey, Minnie and various Disney princesses. It'll be set up at the Bossier Civic Center Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $3.

    Suzanne Peyton Book-signing

    Local author Suzanne Peyton has written a riveting book about reincarnation. A dream she had more than a decade ago led her to unravel the twisted tale of her great-grandmother. She'll be signing copies of "Virginia's Diary" at Barnes & Noble from 4-6 p.m.
