Our mild flu season may be coming to an end. Influenza expert Dr. Frank Welch says that although Louisiana's flu season has been fairly benign so far, flu cases up dramatically everywhere else and he expects us to be next. The good news is this year's flu vaccine is perfectly matched to fight the particular bug that is causing all the problems. This year's major contributor to misery is the H1N1 virus, doing an encore from it's successful 2009 run, and this year's vaccine is designed with it in mind. So get that flu shot, it's never too late according to the good doctor. Most insurances cover flu shots and those without insurance should contact a local public health unit.
