Soon it will be illegal to vape with a child in the car in Louisiana.

Perhaps you did not know, but Louisiana law already prohibits drivers and passengers from smoking cigarettes, pipes or cigars if a child is in the vehicle.

House Bill 109 brought forth by Gretna Rep. Joe Marino now adds vaping to that list.

Governor John Bel Edwards announced on Tuesday that he has signed the measure into law. The new prohibition takes effect in August.

The House voted 80-19 in favor of the measure in the regular session that wrapped up June 1, while the Senate unanimously agreed by a 30-0 vote.
