MY Prize Fest Experience 2019
Every year I wonder how Prize Fest can possibly get any bigger. Every year, Gregory Kallenberg and Prize Fest finds a way.
It is simply my favorite time of the year. I always get eager and excited in October, as Prize Fest quickly approaches. What started as a film festival in downtown Shreveport years ago, has blossomed into THE premiere event in Shreveport, taking over downtown for a week straight. Sure, the films are their bread and butter, but Prize Fest is so much more than just a film festival. With the inclusion of music, food, and fashion into the festivities, there truly isn't anything like this in our area and we all should be grateful and supportive.
The support was loud and strong this weekend as the event greatly exceeded it's own expectations and goals in terms of ticket sales and attendance, making it the biggest Prize Fest to date.
I had the pleasure of attending on Saturday afternoon, taking part in the interview portion of the festival. I had an absolute blast interviewing the cast and crew behind four incredible Film Prize films.
For the first time in Prize Fest history, a comedy took home the top honor winning $50,000 and joining an exclusive club of previous Film prize winners. Shreveport's own James Palmer wrote, directed, and starred in the hilarious musical-comedy "Anniversary". James is one of the funniest, and most creative people I've ever met, and I couldn't possibly be more excited for him and his crew. His crew also included John Chambers and Clint McCommon of Fairfield Studios, and I promise you, you'll never find a kinder and more deserving duo than those two great men.
Bravo to Gregory Kallenberg and his team with Prize Fest. Our city is lucky to have you all, and lucky to have this incredible event!
