Last year the obesity and overweight numbers were very heavy when it came to Louisiana. In 2020 we had 4 of the top 12 fattest cities in the nation. Shreveport came in very high, yup we came in at number 2 on the list. Luckily we had McAllen, Texas beat us out for the top spot.

Lafayette, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans also made the list of the fattest cities in 2020. This year Baton Rouge got fatter and Shreveport-Bossier lost some weight.

How did we rank this year? We saw there was room for improvement and we went for it. This year Shreveport-Bossier ranks as number 5 when it comes to WalletHub's "2021’s Most Overweight and Obese Cities in the U.S." What did we do differently this year?

We have been told time and time again that Americans are some of the fattest people in the world. Sorry, it's not our fault that we are some dang good cooks and love all kinds of food. Apparently, our love of food and lack of working out is consuming our nation as a whole. WalletHub revealed that almost 40 percent of U.S. adults are obese. Why lie, I thought that number was closer to 50%.

The numbers aren't shocking when you think about the fact that there are multiple fast-food restaurants within walking distance from our jobs and our homes. When you go to the grocery store, the cheaper items are mostly unhealthy. If you're not a good cook, you'll avoid fresh and raw grocery items and opt for the frozen food section. So yes, our obesity numbers don't come as a shock to me.

Here is how Shreveport-Bossier did this year according to WalletHub.

Total score: 83.18
Obesity and overweight: 9
Health consequences: 3
Food and fitness: 14
