I've heard for too many years people lamenting "There's nothing to do in Shreveport."  Well, I've never felt that way, but this weekend proves that they're wrong, in a big way.

This weekend kicks off with St. Patrick's Day and the return of Paddy in the Plaza downtown on Friday, March 17th.  Get ready for green beer, live music, food and fun all around presented by Mudbug Madness.

But Paddy in the Plaza is only the beginning of all that's going on in Shreveport this weekend.  Also Friday night you'll find St. Patrick's Day celebrations going on in the River District's Fatty Arbuckles with St. Fatty's Day featuring live music, and a Savage St. Paddy's at Noble Savage.

The fun continues on Saturday.  Do you know about the 318 Day Festival? Enjoy a day at the park with live music from the Dirty Redd Band, Front Cover Band and others. This celebration also features a great line-up of visual artists and good eats from food trucks and vendors! 318 Day Festival takes place at Caddo Common Park, 800 block of Texas Ave. Saturday, March 18, 2 -8 pm. And the best part? Free Admission.

Cajun legend Jo-El Sonnier will have the crowd at Shreve Station dancing Saturday night at their first-ever Lucky Cajun day, filled with Irish & Cajun games, a tribute to U2, crawfish, food trucks and finally, Jo-El Sonnier and his squeeze box making the night one to remember. Saturday, March 18th, 5 pm. Show starts at 7 pm at Shreve Station, 400 Crockett St. Tickets are $20/$50.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice masterpiece, Jesus Christ Superstar returns to the stage this weekend. It’s hard to believe the musical has been around for more than 50 years and is still as compelling as ever. Performances are beginning this weekend, and runs March 17-26, various times at the Emmett Hook Center, 550 Common St. Tickets are $15/$25.  Find more info at emmetthookcenter.org

And it wouldn't be spring without budding plants and blooming flowers. A special flower and art event is coming to artspace for two days only, March 22 and 23. Celebrate and Pollinate will draw flower artists from around the country. Not those artists who paint flowers, but those who create amazing exhibits using flowers and other plant-based materials.
