Sulphur Parks and Recreation officials are saying they are hopeful their family water park will reopen in time for summer.

There's nothing like cooling off in a pool during the summer. Last year, SPAR had to close down early due to the pandemic. This year, officials are hopeful they will be able to operate the park at full capacity as our state nears complete reopening.

SPAR Manager AunJelle Burton told KPLC they are also preparing to open the park at half capacity and will take the necessary precautions to keep all park visitors safe. She also said the park will look different than park-goers remember.  They are creating social distancing lounges and have placed hand sanitation stations across the park.

The park is also still recovering from Hurricanes Laura and Delta, as needed repairs are taking place before they open their doors to the public. Burton said the repairs will likely push back the opening of the park to late summer.

They're hiring a full staff for the reopen. For more information on SPAR, click here.
