Thousands in the ARK-LA-TEX are still without power following a line of storms that lasted from Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning. According to SWEPCO, more than 20,000 customers are still without power in the region, with several thousand of those outages being in Shreveport-Bossier. Officials say that service may not be restored for some customers until Saturday afternoon.

That's the bad news. The worse news is we could be facing more another line of severe storms. The National Weather Service says another line of storms is moving into the area today and could stick around until Sunday. On the low end, we could see 2 to 4 more inches of rain. On the high end, we could face an additional 6 to 8 inches.

High winds, heavy rain and flash flooding is expected over the weekend. Cross Lake and several other area waterways have been closed to the public due to potential flooding and high water levels.

Lt. Bill Davis from the Bossier Sheriff's Department says that they've been dealing with flooded neighborhoods and have had to rescue residents from potentially dangerous situations. Davis says the Red River is expected to rise into to flood stage and is currently projected to crest at 31 and a half feet. However, Davis says we shouldn't see the kind of flooding and damage we saw back in 2015. He says the biggest threat this time around is flash flooding and flooding in neighborhoods with poor drainage systems.

Sandbags are available in both Caddo and Bossier Parishes for residents that need them.
