As if you need an excuse to give to such an amazing program!

Yesterday, as I was working my weekly volunteer shift at GREAT in Greenwood, one of our students leaned over and asked me to help her trot. First, I was humbled that she trusted me to keep her safe while doing something that she was scared of doing. Second, I realized how blessed I was to be able to work with such incredible individuals. When most folks think of inclusivity, they think of race or gender, they don't think of the people living daily with physical, cognitive, or behavioral challenges. GREAT promotes true inclusivity and so much more!

This is what it’s all about! Please consider The GREAT Program during Give for Good next week!

GREAT, is a therapeutic riding program and it stands for Great Results Equine Assisted Therapies and it's offered through the Arc of Caddo-Bossier.

As a volunteer, I've witnessed the healing power of horses firsthand. I've watched students with traumatic brain injuries, Down Syndrome, autism, etc... get stronger, both emotionally and physically... and best of all, experience joy!

While you can't support GREAT directly, you can give to The Arc of Caddo-Bossier overall. However, I promised you a list of why I think you should support GREAT/The Arc during the Community Foundation of North Louisiana's Give for Good Day Tuesday, May 4, 2021.

1. It supports people right here in NWLA
2. Inclusivity
3. Independence
4. Physical and emotional growth
5. Numerous health benefits

GREAT's mission statement is to, 'Build unlimited opportunities for people with disabilities through therapeutic horsemanship.'  The Arc of Caddo-Bossier has multiple programs, but as you can tell, GREAT is the one that really works on my heart. It takes a lot of money to run a facility like GREAT and I know they'd love your support.

GREAT is located in Greenwood on Greenwood-Springridge Road. Call (318) 938-9166 if you're interested in volunteering.
