Water Treatment Facility Flooded, Residents Urged to Boil Water
The massive amount of rain we have seen across the Ark-La-Tex has caused some major issues. From traffic accidents to road closings, the 3-5 inches of rain we have received in the past 72 hours is wreaking havoc in our corner of the world. The rural area around Waskom, just on the Texas side of I-20, now has drinking water to add to the list of things to worry about.
The Waskom Rural Water Supply has issued a boil water warning for all of its customers after the recent deluge overwhelmed their system. According to Ark-La-Tex Homepage, flooding has caused their water treatment facility to go down. Officials are unsure how long it will take to get the system up and running correctly again. Untill then all Waskom Rural Water Supply customers are advised to boil any water used for consumption or cooking for at least 2 minutes. The warning is in effect until further notice.
