Remember about a year ago when the world learned that Paula Deen had type 2 diabetes? She's been changing the way she eats and as a result has lost lots of weight.

The 65-year-old TV chef has lost 36 pounds and she's keeping off. What is her secret? "It's about moderation,” Deen tells Woman's Day Magazine. “I just needed to learn to eat a normal portion size and not overindulge.”

She is also exercising. She walks nearly every day on a treadmill. But she has also revamped what she eats. She says the biggest change is portion control.
She has changed what is on the dinner plate.....a few years ago, you would find chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes with gravy, bisquits and other sides. But now her plate looks much different. "Now we do a 3-oz portion of steak, which my husband, Michael, weighs on a scale, and I'll sear it in a skillet or put it on the grill. We'll sauté the green beans but without bacon. And maybe a tomato salad with onions. And no bread!"
