World famous Clarinetist Pete Fountain has died. He was 86 years old.

I remember watching him perform on the "Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" as a child. Later in life I got the chance to see him perform live a few times, once at the New Orleans Jazz Fest where he was legendary.

His performance of  "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" became the unofficial anthem for traditional New Orleans jazz.

New Orleans' famous son died Saturday morning of heart failure. Fountain is being remembered by the music world and even all the way to the Governor's mansion:
