Before you slap that perfectly shaped piece of SPAM down on the grill, you are going to need to check the label.  Not the ingredients part (which usually contains a big question mark), but the little code on the bottom of the can.  Due to some nasty little bits of metal contaminating the "meat" inside, Hormel foods (the makers of SPAM) is recalling 228,614 cans of the canned substance and the equally delicious sounding "Hormel Foods Black-Label Luncheon Loaf."

Apparently, the metal fragments are not on list of accepted ingredients for the ubiquitous rectangular parallelepiped of technically food.  Click here to see your can has one of the affected codes stamped on the bottom.  If you do, the USDA says: "Don't eat it, even if you've been drinking and it's the only thing in your cabinet."  Okay, so I made up that last part.  They did say that cans stamped with those codes are part of this massive recall, and if you have one - you should throw it away or return it to the store where you purchased it.
