Though many fans in Louisiana would have loved to see Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints in the Super Bowl, there are fans in the Ark-La-Tex who are comforted knowing that if the Saints couldn't make it, at least there's some local flavor.

Kansas City Chiefs' quarterback Patrick Mahomes was born in Tyler, Texas. He played high school football at Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas. He even played his college football at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas.

Last season, Mahomes put up 50 touchdown passes in his first year as a starter in the league, on his way to his first MVP Award. Not to mention he guided his team to a 12-4 records, first round playoff bye, and home playoff game.

Now in his second full year as the starter, he's got his team into the Super Bowl.

Though his 2019 season didn't have the same crazy stats. Mostly because Mahomes was hurt for a chunk of the season after dislocating his knee cap. But he still played in 14 games, throwing for 26 touchdowns and over 4,000 yards. But it's his 2019 Playoff stats that jump off the page.

In this year's playoffs, Mahomes is completing roughly 66% of his passes, for 615 yards in two games, and 8 touchdowns against no interceptions. His Playoff passer rating is 131.5 (perfect is 158.3).

Mahomes will face a tough test in the Super Bowl though. The San Francisco 49ers defense has been one of the most dominant units all season.
