I love breakfast. It's my favorite meal of the day. Often thought, I meet people who totally skip it. You've heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but do you know why?

Many people skip breakfast, instead choosing to go with a cup of coffee or soda, but they're denying their brain of fuel.

According to WebMd.com, 'when you wake up, the blood sugar your body needs to make your muscles and brain work their best is usually low. Breakfast helps replenish it.If your body doesn’t get that fuel from food, you may feel zapped of energy -- and you'll be more likely to overeat later in the day.'

Our bodies are like cars, we don't run well on an empty tank. If you start your day running on fumes, you're likely to continue that way.

“The body uses a lot of energy stores for growth and repair through the night,” explains dietician Sarah Elder to the BBC. “Eating a balanced breakfast helps to up our energy, as well as protein and calcium used throughout the night.”

So what should you eat? Well, that's up to you. Personally, I opt for a protein shake made with almond milk on most days. Along with a great multi-vitamin, Omega 3 supplements, and I drink at least 16 ounces of water, before I leave the house. Most days, I've had about 32 ounces.

Yes, I keep track of my water intake, too. In addition to breakfast, water is key to optimal health. I make it a point to drink about a gallon a day.

Break your fast in the morning, and consume lots of water and see how your days begin to improve!
