This October, you can help finish the fight against breast cancer.

The American Cancer Society is looking to put an end to breast cancer. The Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation. Over 300 communities unite to finish the fight.

Each year, walkers help raise more than $60 million for the American Cancer Society. Each walker has a common goal; to transform breast cancer from deadly to treatable and from treatable to preventable. Money raised will go toward groundbreaking cancer research, comprehensive support, and access to mammograms.

Making Strides is a noncompetitive 5K walk to honor breast cancer survivors in the community. This year, the event will be held on Saturday, October 24 at 8:30 a.m. on the LSUS Campus. There is no registration fee. Participants are encouraged to sign up as a team and try to raise a minimum of $100.

Last year was the first year Making Strides took place in Shreveport. Over 500 people participated raising $50,000.

If you can't make the walk, you can become a Ribbon of Hope sponsor. As a sponsor, your business logo will be displayed on a four-four-tall pink ribbon located along the event route. More than 1,000 walkers will see this.
