Totally Tubular! It’s a Feel Good ’80s and ’90s Memorial Day Weekend on KVKI!
Yep, we're bringing back all of the '80s and '90s hits you love this Memorial Day weekend on KVKI! Our Feel Good '80s and '90s Weekend begins Friday, May 26th, 2023, at 4 pm with Bristol and we'll keep the totally awesome tunes rolling through Memorial Day Monday, May 29th, 2023, at 7 pm with Delilah.
Are you ready to revisit the decades that brought us the Trapper Keeper, Furbies, Nickelodeon, Apple, Beanie Babies, the Rubik's Cube, The Macarena, and Members-Only jackets? We sure are! In fact, we may break out the AquaNet just for fun to celebrate!
It's hard to believe, but the '80s and '90s were the decades when home computers were invented and a movie star *gasp* aka Ronald Reagan was sworn in as the 40th President of the United States. Music and fashion were all the rage and we watched shows like Growing Pains, Roseanne, Friends, Cheers, and Facts of Life. We also fell in love with Mollie Ringwald, the Coreys (Haim and Feldman), and the '80s version of the 'Rat Pack,' including Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Andrew McCarthy, and Ally Sheedy. We were also introduced to boy bands, grunge, and grown-up acts from the Mickey Mouse Show like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
In the '80s and '90s we played the Atari 2600 and Nintendo, had a collection of scratch and sniff stickers and sported a Swatch watch. We also wore leg warmers, multiple layers of socks, and tight-rolled jeans. What were we thinking?!?!? We idolized artists like Madonna, Mariah Carey, R.E.M., U2, the Backstreet Boys, Alanis Morrisette, Prince, Michael Jackson, and Duran Duran.
