The Sheriff in Clark County Nevada says his office is working with the FBI and the Office of Homeland Security to continue the investigation into the mass shooting in Las Vegas.

Sheriff Joseph Lombardo just released new numbers saying 58 people are confirmed dead and 515 others were wounded. He also says the gunman was later “engaged” by authorities, but was dead – presumably by suicide – by the time a SWAT team burst into the hotel room where he had been firing down at concertgoers, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The gunman has been identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock who was retired and also had a pilots license. He was staying in a room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel during a performance by Jason Aldean at approximately 10:08 PM local time, according to CNN.

Lombardo said Paddock was acting alone: “Right now, we believe it’s a sole actor – a lone wolf-type actor.” Authorities have since located a roommate identified as Marilou Danley who was believed to be with Paddock; she was said to be a person of interest in the shootings.
