For quite a few years, The KCS Holiday Express, a festively-decorated, six-car train taking Santa Claus to towns across the USA, would make an annual appearance at downtown's Festival Plaza. But with the demise of that festival, the train had to make other arrangements.

This year the train will make its stop at the KCS Shreveport Yard, Gate 5, 4500 North Lakeshore Drive, starting this Saturday, December 7 at 4pm. The train will depart once the last tours have been given, which should be around 7:30.

This event is free and open to the publi and no ticket is required. Aboard the KCS Holiday Express, children will enjoy touring Santa’s dazzlingly-decorated train and posing for photographs with Santa and the elves.

At stops in various towns, the KCS Charitable Fund makes a contribution of gift cards to the local Salvation Army to provide warm clothing and other necessities for children in need in those communities.

Over the past decade the Holiday Express has donated over $1 million in gift cards to this cause.
