Football goes with Thanksgiving the way bacon goes with everything. Today will be a bountiful day for those who enjoy watching professional football games.

In the NFL there are three games today. The two traditional games featuring the teams from Dallas and Detroit and the newly added third game on NFL Network.

11:30 AM - Vikings at Lions:The first contest will be on your CBS affiliate television . The Vikings were cruising as one of the better teams in the NFL until just recently. The team went on a four-game skid and finally got back to their winning ways last week by defeating Arizona. The Lions defeated the Vikings earlier in the year. The score in that game was 22-16. The teams are not that far apart when it comes to personnel, they both have a record of 6 wins and 4 losses.  So it will come down to who tackles better, execute better, and hold on to the football better. Las Vegas has made the Lions a 2.5 point favorite.

3:30 PM - Redskins at Cowboys: This contest will be on your local Fox Network affiliate. This game is one of the real rivalry games in the NFL. The two teams always play each other tough and on Thanksgiving strange things happen when they get together. The Cowboys have faced the Redskins on Thanksgiving Day more than any other team.  The Cowboys have been on fire with rookie quarterback Dak Prescott. They have a league-best record of  9-1. The Redskins haven't been bad this year. They are a solid team with a record of 6-3-1. They have their own weapons and have probably learned from the contest between the two teams that took place earlier this year. The Cowboys are a 7 point favorite.

7:30 PM - Steelers at Colts: This contest will be on the NFL Network. That being said the viewership for this game will be minimal for two reasons. The NFL Network is still not top of mind among the general populace. There will also be a very good college football game between LSU and Texas A&M going on at about the same time.  Oh, another reason folks may not be interested in this game. The Colts are not really good. The Steelers are banged up. Vegas likes the Steelers in this game the spread jumped from 21/2 points to 51/12 points on news that Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was in the leagues concussion protocol.
