Halloween 2013 is less than two weeks away. So what could be better to celebrate the scariest day of the year (after, of course, Saturday's 'Boo On the Bayou') than the most frighteningly fantastic films of all time?

So, here we go...the top 5 scariest of all time, in order of release:

5) Psycho Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 horror classic. Who else besides Hitch would kill off his leading lady (Janet Leigh) in the first half hour?

4) The Shining Jack Nicholson at his mentally deranged best. And whoever thought the line, 'Here's Johnny', would be a scary movie classic?

3) Scream Director Wes Craven's perfect blend of horror and satire and paying more than a little homage to Hitchcock.

2) Descent The 2005 British film about a group of women trapped in a cave. Director Neil Marshall shot two endings. Critics say the British version is better...and much, much scarier.

1) Cabin In the Woods A recent (2012) classic from Joss Wheadon of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' fame. Some say the last 30 minutes are the most frightening in movie history!
