In a pleasantly surprising move, a Swedish toy company called Top Toy has made a giant leap for gender equality amongst children. Top Toy's Christmas catalog features an interesting twist: the boys are the ones who are playing with dollhouses and the girls are happily playing with the Nerf guns.

In a move that will delight toy lovers everywhere, the National Toy Hall of Fame announced 12 nominees for induction this year, including some of our personal faves, like the Magic 8 Ball, little green army men and 'Star Wars' action figures.

Here are 11 awesome toys from the 1990's we wish we could play with right now.

At some time in our life we have played with a Lego brick, or at least stepped on one. Most of us never stopped to think of how they came to be. Pixar did  a great job in telling the Lego story with this animated short in celebration of Lego's 80th birthday.

Now this is fun! I love Sciport and this is one of the reasons why! Cool stuff to do with the kids. They are having a Toy Making Workshop where you can , make a toy that you can take home with you! And if the kids aren't careful they might even learn some really cool science along the way...

Now I think I have heard it all. You're familiar with Netflix...you rent all the movies you want for a monthly fee. Now you can rent toys. It can actually be a good deal. Your kids get to play with the hottests toys for a couple of months and then you ship them back (pre-paid) and more toys show up in the mail ...

With Black Friday and Christmas shopping just around the corner, parents are trying to figure out which toys will be hot... And which ones to stay away from. One toy that's been getting a lot of press lately is the "You & Me Interactive Play & Giggle Triplet Dolls" from Toys R Us.

I thought I may be able to get a jump start on my Christmas shopping today.. But I wasn't sure which toys were hot and which ones to stay away from. Where to go to for advice? The internet, of course!
