Local Narcotics Agent to Visit BPCC to Discusses Drug Trends

A veteran narcotics agent with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office will be at Bossier Parish Community College to talk about current drug trends.

Other topics Lt. Carl Townley will cover are the dangers of illegal drugs and the legal consequences of being involved in drug use and drug dealing.

"Drugs are responsible for the degradation of our society and are the root of so many other crimes committed in the United States," Lt. Townley said in a news release. "Everyone needs to be aware of what is out there and what is being made available to our children and students."

Townley has over 25 years experience in narcotics investigation and has participated in more than 1,000 felony drug arrests. He's served as an undercover narcotics agent for the FBI, DEA, U.S. Customs and ATF, as well as the Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Task Force.

A regular guest on the KEEL Morning Show, Townley is passionate about sharing experiences working in the field and looks forward to coming back to the college -- where he went through the Criminal Justice Program -- to address the issue.

"They [students] need to be informed about the dangers of illegal drugs and the consequences of being involved in drug use and drug dealing," Townley said.

The free event is set for Wednesday, April 6, at noon in BPCC's theater (Building C). The public is welcome to attend.
