4 days ago My son is now in the homestretch of his Marine basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina. He sends thanks to all of my friends and listeners who have kept him in your prayers these past couple of months.
April 16, 2013 I've been getting some great letters from my son over the past few days. In his latest letter he talks about the "infamous obstacles".
My eyes welled up as I saw him sitting with some new buddies at Shreveport Regional Airport. JW was more concerned about me at that point (he hates to see me cry). Then we just talked.
I am so torn about my son's decision to join the Marines. But mostly I am proud. He has been thinking about doing this for a few months and he checked out all of the branches of the military.

January 30, 2012 I had a little road trip to Houston over the weekend since my son was listed on the roster for 3 of 4 games for the Dynamo Academy team.
